VRS-07 Rune Stone Plaque

Here’s the translation for this piece – “Kolli raised this stone in memory of his wife’s brothers Asbjorn and Julli, very good valiant men. They died in the east as Huskarl in the retinue”.

Huskarl means house servant (in this case man at arm or body guard). The Retinue indicates that they were “Varangian Guards” the elite bodyguard corps of the Byzantine Roman Emperors.
Runestone plaque from Norway.
