B-17 Wood Thrush Bird

These birds have some interesting breeding facts. The male Wood Thrush does more feeding of the chicks than the female. The extra help allows her to start a second brood. Also, pairs raise broods together but outside mating is common. At some sites, as many as 40 percent of a female’s young are not fathered by its mate. Another impressive fact, a male can easily sing over 50 distinct songs.
